2014 DETROIT PIGSKIN DYNASTY SUPERBOWL ODDS

*** These odds are for entertainment purposes only and TOTALLY for you to take personal. As we all know, you can offend a man's wife, you can possibly offend a man's dog, but if you say ONE bad word about their fantasy team, $h@t just got real ***

This above text/picture message exchanged between Todd Losey and Patrick Fahey sums up perfectly the theme for this years fantasy league in the Detroit Pigskin Dynasty.

Or should I say factually NOT EXCHANGED.

To give you a background on the picture above Todd Losey and his wonderful wife Jennifer recently had the birth of there first child.  To welcome Nolan Todd Losey in this world, Patrick Fahey (evidently) put a lot of thought and time into a gift congratulating them for this eventful time in their lives. On the bottom of the card Todd sent a personal message to Patrick saying "Todd is going to OWN the fantasy league this year."

Patrick, appreciating the fact that Todd still had his priorities in order tried responding by simply saying "Anybody but the Pietrangelos"

iPhone obviously disagreed.

After a third failed attempt, iPhone laughed hysterically and said "Listen buddy give it up, if you are going to take down the Pietrangelo's this year, you are going to have to prove it. To this point you group of imbeciles have shown complete and utter incompetence."

I know right?  iPhone made it personal REAL FAST.

Well then to no further ado:  Here are the preseason predictions to this year's league.

2-1 ODDS   DON MEGGE AKA DONNY FOOTBALL

Yahoo Projections:  4th Place

Don Megge came in so focused on the draft that he forgot he had one Job and that was to bring
Stillwell with him.

Hell maybe that was his plan, while everyone was losing thier patience with Stillwell being on his own schedule Mr. Megge took the #1 pick and absolutely destroyed his draft this year.

LeSean McCoy was a coin flip between him and Jamaal Charles but you cant go wrong with either one.

ESPN actually had AP has the #1 overall player this year, Don Megge actually took him #2 overall last year.  Don Megge showing some resentment towards AP's performance last year, felt burned and wasn't going to put the same faith into him.

As we all know in fantasy football once you get burned by a player, That player automatically gets blacklisted from your squad for future years to come.

2nd and 3rd rounds Megge went Aaron Rodgers to Jordy Nelson.  A pretty sexy duo with all the potential and hype to win fantasy games by themselves.

Toby Gerhart, being Don Megge's #2RB has been getting a lot of preseason hype to be this year's breakout back and be a potential top ten RB.

Don Megge utilized the #1 pick to perfection this year and one could argue after the season that his draft strategy could be the blueprint on how it was done.

Don Megge's odds also were bumped up because I don't believe Yahoo took into account that Don (along with the likes of Steve, Todd, Zeb, and Bailey) has the favorable schedule of facing Stillwell twice this year.

The fact alone makes this team a virtual lock for the playoffs.

Also some special credit for the new team name. Very Catchy.

3-1 ODDS  STEVE PIETRANGELO

Yahoo Projections: 1st Place

HELL, Yahoo has this team projected to go F'N undefeated at 14-0

This IS NOT keeping with the "Down with the Pietrangelo's" theme.

I want all of you to take a self-imposed time out and think about what you guys could of done better!

Seriously go sit in a corner or something and think of ways on how to improve on life.

Last year Cam Newton was a top 3 QB

This year he is a backup on Steve's bench.

I know Cam already has some injury concerns and some questions at WR, but that just shows how balanced this squad is.

If Nick Foles can avoid that "sophomore slump phenomenon" then Steve wont have to worry about Cam's ribs.  Regardless Steve has proven he can use his GM skills and play QB's based on their match-ups in the past.

To start the season Steve easily has the best backfield with the duo of Matt Forte and DeMarco Murray.

Rob Gronkowski is going to what makes or break this team.

If Gronk can play in at least 60% to 80% of the games this year this team is playoff bound.
( if it wasn't there already)

I tried every way possible to knock this team down because last year's Superbowl runner-up usually tends to struggle the following year, but again, this team also faces Stillwell twice this year.

6-1 ODDS:  PATRICK FAHEY

Yahoo Projections:  3rd Overall

Jamaal Charles, Drew Brees, and Julius Thomas are all studs.

Keenan Allen, Torrey Smith, and Marques Colston is average WR core with the potential to steal some games away.

Shane Vereen, Bernard Pierce, or Jeremy Hill.

Just need some average production throughout the year out of these group for the #2RB spot and this team is a lock for the playoffs.

Last years #1 seed has proven he can dominant in the regular season, can he get over that hump and make the next step in taking down the Pietrangelo's this year?

10-1 ODDS:  MATTHEW ZEBULA

Yahoo Projections: 6th place

"The GM of daddyZeb took the fourth overall pick in the draft and turned it into a pretty decent team. Unless of course they planned on winning, because if that was the plan, then it didn't go very well. "

-Yahoo Draft Report Card

Man.......I honestly thought, under the circumstances, Zeb drafted a pretty solid, maybe above average team.

I mean, we all should give a special shout out to Mr Zebula has he was drafting strictly off text msgs while he was in an airport and traveling home. And he was on point when it came to using his time.

Yahoo is clearly not a fan of Jay Cutler or Phillip Rivers, but if Zeb can channel is inner Pietrangelo and play the correct match ups this QB duo should be able to produce.

Lot of potential hype surrounding Cutler this year if he can play a full season, has A LOT of weapons around him to turn into a fantasy stud.

This is actually one of the easier teams to predict because its all going to be about the QB play and whatever Running back steps up to claim that #2 RB spot.

Eddy Lacy is already considered a proven stud, but I still think he has his best season ahead of him.

Zeb just needs Frank Gore to maintain his consistency, Trent Richardson to learn a playbook, or The star of HBO's Hard Knocks Devonta Freeman to capitalize on his opportunity to be the feature back in Atlanta this year.

Zeb has his a very nice WR core of Brandon Marshall, CMU's FINEST Antonio Brown, and Victor Cruz.

Zeb also drafted Emmanual Sanders (whose stock obviously just skyrocketed) as his FOURTH WR.

Zeb is a former a Superbowl champion and no stranger to the playoffs so he will be knocking on the door all season long to claim that 4th playoff spot.

and of course he plays Stillwell twice.  This bumps his odds up, yet again and gives him a nod over Matt Pietrangelo.

(WE REALLY NEED TO INCORPORATE POSITION ROUNDS IN THE SCHEDULE NEXT YEAR)

15-1 ODDS:  MATTHEW PIETRANGELO

Yahoo Projections: 5th Place

Please, Please, Please NOBODY fall for this man's tomfoolery this year and trade with him.  That might be the only way our defending champion makes his way back into the playoffs.

***Quick Reminder, Matt Pietrangelo traded CALVIN JOHNSON & MSU's OWN LEVEON BELL and the Minnesota Defense last year to Matt Zebula for Trent Richardson, Vernon Davis, and the San Francisco Defense.  Initially on paper it looked like one hell of a deal for Zeb.  As it turned out Vernon Davis had a 30 point game by himself and single handily stole a win away (from Todd) and we will never forget how the San Francisco Defense sealed the deal on Matt Pietrangelo's second Superbowl victory on that pick 6.  Hell man,  Looking back on that now that was one hell of a move.  Lot of credit towards Matt Pietrangelo on that one.  No fault on Zeb's part either, I think we would of all done that deal.****

Continuing on:

Listen, when you can go Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant with your first two picks, you can start Crowell at your 3rd WR and you will easily have the best WR core in the league.

I honestly believe Andre Ellington is extremely overrated this year.   Were not talking CJ Spiller or Darren McFadden overrated, but will Andre prove that is worth that 3rd round price tag? ESPECIALLY over the likes of Zac Stacy or MATT'S VERY OWN TWITTER BUDDY LEVEON BELL?!?!?

( I wonder if there is some story we didn't hear about where Bell BIG TIMED Pietrangelo so now Matt refuses to have him on his team anymore)

And I can repeat the same statement about Rashad Jennings in the 4th round.  Doug Martin was the very next running back picked.  I have more faith in Martin at that 4th round price tag.

Matt Ryan is going to have to rebound this year and I actually think Reggie Bush will have to step up for Matt Pietrangelo to defend his title this year.

25-1 ODDS:  TODD LOSEY

Yahoo Projections: 2nd place

#1 reason why I believe Yahoo has Todd's team projected so high: C.J. Spiller

#1 reason why I have Todd's odds so high (or is it low? You get the point):  C.J. Spiller

ESPECIALLY with that 4th round price tag.

(Crowell is reliving a flashing nightmare right now)

The next 2 running backs to go where Toby Gerhart and Reggie Bush. ( Which in my very educated humbled opinion, I believe are better options then C.J. Spiller)

Running back depth will also be a concern here because if CJ Spiller fails to perform and well, acts like CJ Spiller. Todd's only other options are Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Williams.

One other critical mistake Todd might of made is when he went into Stillwell time and wasted a draft pick ( and a lot of our time) on  Josh Gordon.  Lamar Miller and Jeremy Hill where the Running backs that went next.  Hell having Pierre Thomas would of been a better option then coming away with nothing.

30-1 ODDS:  BRAD BAILEY

Yahoo Projections:  9th place

On paper this team could actually compete for a playoff spot.

Snagging LeVeon Bell at the beginning of the 4th round might end up being the steal of the draft now that no suspension will be coming down this year.

Picking AJ Green over Dez Bryant could prove to be a fatal early round mistake.

Picking Wes Welker over Golden Tate WILL prove to be a fatal mistake.

This all comes down to Bailey and EMBRACING the waiver wire.

It has been documented that Bailey is no fan of the Wednesday morning waiver wire, in order for Bailey to be competitive this year he will have to step up his game and focus on updating his team throughout the year.

At times like this you have to look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the question:

Do I want to compete for the playoffs or do I want to be like Stillwell?

40-1 ODDS:  DON DAVIS

Yahoo Projections:  7th Place

"The GM of DoubleD took the fifth overall pick in the draft and turned it into a pretty decent team. Unless of course they planned on winning, because if that was the plan, then it didn't go very well."

-Yahoo Draft Report Card

Arian Foster and Giovani Bernard is your STARTING backfield with Steven Jackson and Knowshon Moreno as your back ups.

Anybody want to bring up an argument that this ISN'T the worse backfield in the entire league?

I mean........It brings genuine feelings of disappointment looking at how Don Davis mailed it in for this years draft.

If I had faith in ANYONE (certainly not Don Megge) to bring down the Pietrangelo's this year I would of banked on this man.  A former two-time regular season champion, Don Davis has proven in the past that he is capable of dominating the draft.  ( Even though there have been some questions about his football IQ)

One of the highlights of Don's Draft this year?  He drafted Eric Ebron in the 11th round.

50-1 ODDS:  MATT CROWELL

Yahoo Projections:  8th place

"With Too Many Reaches Early, Team Germaine looks like Cellar Dweller"

"Team Germaine should consider renaming the team "Learning Experience," because that's what this draft was."

-Yahoo Draft Report Card

uhhh..........ummmmm.......mmmmm.

I cant be the only that literally laughed out loud to this.......Right?

I mean Jimmy Graham is a stud, and your backfield has a little potential there with Montee Ball and Doug Martin

but...come on guys, how do you expect me to follow that up?

Yahoo absolutely blow torched Crowell's draft.

Who am I to disagree?

***YAHOO WAS ABSOLUTELY ON FIRE THIS YEAR WITH THE SOLID BURNS ON THE REPORT CARDS!***

( all puns intended)

100-1 ODDS:  BRAIN STILLWELL

"Maybe these pre-season projections will get Don is a Big Baby to play with a chip on their shoulder. It's definitely going to require some sort of extra effort if they hope to reach the playoffs. Hell, it may require extra effort just to get a win"

-Yahoo Draft Report Card

and its going to take a Matthew Stafford miracle just for him to get anymore then that one win.

MY PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS:

Don Megge, Steve Pietrangelo, Patrick Fahey, & Matthew Zebula

Remember, to post you very own playoff predictions on the yahoo message board!

Did Matt Crowell technically retire last year?

I think the better question here is did Matt Crowell inadvertently have the best fantasy trash talk EVER when it comes to Don Megge and Don Davis?

Feel free to answer the poll I have posted on the league message board.

Detroit Pigskin Dynasty Season Recap: Part 2

THE PIETRANGELO BOWL

#3 Matt Pietrangelo vs. #4 Steve Pietrangelo

After a grueling fantasy season, the final game has been set, and it all comes down this:

Pietrangelo vs. Pietrangelo.

The bottom seeds advancing and sending the top two seeds home early, and now the Detroit Pigskin Dynasty will have its first ever 2-time champion...MAYBE a back-to-back championship which would be highly impressive.

And of course it all came down to an old school MONDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN!

Atlanta Falcons vs. San Francisco 49ers

Going into the game the score was:

#4  Steve Pietrangelo     76.64
#3  Matt Pietrangelo       73.08

Steve's team was completely done for the week.

Matt's team still had Vernon Davis AND the San Francisco defense left to go.

It seemed to be a formality that Matt Pietrangelo would lock up his second fantasy championship.

Boy did it set up for a very eventful night as it was the same night as the annual Christmas Poker Party and as the night progressed we will go directly to the FOURTH quarter.

That is right, Matt had yet to make up the point differential and still trailed going to the 4th quarter as Vernon Davis had ZERO points.

Fast forward to the end of the game as we are down to the 2-minute drive.  Matt Ryan and the Falcons were driving down the field.

The score of the "real" football game was:  SF 27  ATL 24

Matt Pietrangelo was STILL down 3-4 points at the current time.

The only way, and I mean THE ONLY way Matt Pietrangelo could win was if Matt Ryan threw a pick-6,
and at the same time, Matt Ryan is trying to just get his team into field goal position.  CLEARLY the chances of him throwing a pick-6 are minuscule.

Steve Pietrangelo is on the brink of winning BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Well you know already know what I am about to say:

and then this happened...

KEEP IN MIND WE ARE ALL GATHERED AROUND THE POKER TABLE WITNESSING HISTORY.... HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED.....OH MY!

And just like that, Matt Pietrangelo is your 2013 Fantasy Super Bowl Champion!

#3  MATT PIETRANGELO   81.08
#4  STEVE PIETRANGELO  76.64

It was made TEN TIMES better that we were all gathered together to watch it happened.

So ALREADY PLANNED, and I mean make this is a PRIORITY again this year

Monday Night Poker Party tentatively planned for December 22nd at the Fahey household

Does this mean that this year the fantasy Superbowl champion will have Peyton Manning on their team?

Did this just completely change everybody's draft strategy?

Detroit Pigskin Dynasty Season Recap: Part 1

It is officially August and we are approximately (ALREADY) 3 weeks away from the live draft.

Here is a quick recap on last year's playoff results:

#2  Todd Losey        102.56
#3  Matt Pietrangelo  179.96

Matt Pietrangelo's team scored an astounding PLAYOFF RECORD 179.96 points.

He was a beneficiary of Jamaal Charles's record breaking performance of 50+ points.

Final statline on the day for Charles was 20 rush yards, 195 rec yards, and FIVE total touchdowns.

Todd Losey's playoff changes were smashed quicker than poor Price "The Viper" Oberyn's skull.

This set up another history making moment...

Either the #1 seed in the league would actually win the Super Bowl, or the Detroit Pigskin Dynasty would have its first two-time champion...not to mention the possibility of the "Pietrangelo Bowl!"

We had story lines galore!

#1  Patrick Fahey          96.02
#4  Steve Pietrangelo  113.02

Let me refresh your memory about the ending to this playoff matchup.

We had a good old fashioned MONDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN!

Fahey had Reggie Bush vs. Steve had Justin fucking kicker Tucker!

Steve had a 10.1 point lead going into the showdown.

On the EIGHTH PLAY of the game, Reggie Bush already had 40 yards rushing and a TD!

WE WERE TIED!!

Next series Baltimore went 3 and out and first play for the Lions Reggie Bush had a 19 yard carry.

Fahey erased that deficit QUICKLY and now pulls into the lead.

And then.................

Justin Tucker 29 Yard Field Goal
Justin Tucker 24 Yard Field Goal
Justin Tucker 32 Yard Field Goal
Justin Tucker 49 Yard Field Goal
Justin Tucker 53 Yard Field Goal

And then..............

Justin Tucker kicked a 61 Yard ( SIXTY-ONE YARD ) field goal to finish the game.

Not only did Justin Tucker single-handily defeat the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, he kicked, and kicked, and booted Fahey right out of any chance of winning the Superbowl.

Which brings up the most peculiar question:  Which playoff loss was more painful?

Having your chances shattered quickly courtesy of 5 TD's from a running back?

or

Getting field goal kicked, repeatedly, into submission?

Regardless, the results set up the brother vs. brother match up.

Detroit Pigskin Dynasty will be guaranteed to have the first ever 2-time champion.

The defending champion Steve Pietrangelo vs. 2010 champ Matt Pietrangelo

Next week part 2 of the season recap:  THE PIETRANGELO BOWL

Monday, September 3, 2012

TOP TEN QUESTIONS COMING OUT OF
THE 2012 DETROIT PIGSKIN DYNASTY DRAFT

10.  HOW ARE WE GOING TO BE ABLE
TO WATCH OUR DETROIT LIONS THIS YEAR?

Let me elaborate, how are we going to watch the lions this year and enjoy their success when we know that Captain Crumbpacker Don Megge has Calvin Johnson on his team, and Captain Crumbpacker Jr in training Matt Zebula has Matthew Stafford.  Every time they score a touchdown that initial excitement will be met with a little disappointment.

9.  ANTHONY BONNANI BELIEVES IN THE COMEBACK.

Question marks all around  coming out of Mr. Bonnani's draft room.

Will Chris Johnson come back to form and be an elite fantasy running back or once again be a first round bust?

Will Rob Gronkowski have back to back years of success in a New England offense loaded with offensive weapons?

Will Andre Johnson come back from multiple surgeries and injuries and regain that elite fantasy wide receiver status?

Will Trent Richardson come back from PRE-SEASON knee surgery?

WILL MICHAEL VICK PLAY THE ENTIRE SEASON?

Whats most amazing about this is that Bonnani was the one that was burned last year by drafting Vick in the first round, and now one year later he is giving him another try after landing him in the sixth round.   I dont know about you people, but when a player burns me once, I cut them from my fantasy roster FOR LIFE.

8.  MATT FORTE GOES IN THE 1rst ROUND.

The main question that will be brought up for the ENTIRE year will be how do you take Matt Forte over Darren McFadden?  Matt Crowell showed great confidence in taking Forte 9th overall.  The Chicago Bears showed such great confidence in him staying healthy that they signed Michael Bush to a lucrative deal in the off season. This allowed Darren McFadden ( who some fantasy experts are saying has a shot at being a top 3 back) to fall to the second round.  This pick actually did not end up being to bad as Crowell got bailed out and got Drew Bress in the SECOND ROUND at #12 overall.   And this is because............

 7.  MATTHEW STAFFORD OVER DREW BREES ?!?!?!?!?!?

REALLY?  Listen I am all for drinking the Kool-Aid and a total Lions slappy, but drafting Matthew Stafford over the record setting, fantasy football championship winning quarterback Drew Brees?  Mr Matthew Zebula's playoff streak is on the line with this bold, bold, BOLD move.

Did I mention that Zeb's VERY next pick with the wrap around (10th and 11th) was Jimmy Graham!?  ***head scratcher***

 6.  RUN ON TIGHT ENDS !!!!!!!!

An absolute PHENOMENON happened at the end of the sixth round.  Mr. Patrick Fahey
reached on Aaron Hernandez to make sure he had that connection with Tom Brady.  After Don Megge picked Eli Manning, The next FOUR PICKS went Antonio Gates, Vernon Davis, Jermichael Finley, and BRANDON PETTIGREW.

So many questions to ask here, I dont know where to even start.

Will Aaron Hernandez  justify being the THIRD tight end picked overall?

Did Brandon Pettigrew really get picked at the end of the sixth round?

Is this proof that position runs actually do exist during a fantasy draft?

5.  VICTOR CRUZ

Victor Cruz was the first pick of the 3rd round.

Brad Bailey had so much faith in Victor he made him the 5th WR picked overall.

Bailey choose Victor over the likes of Roddy White, Brandon Marshall and Wes Welker.

Do I think that all three of this WR's will outscore Victor? Yes.

Which even makes this pick more confusing is that Bailey picked Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback at #1 overall, and he had his choice of either Greg Jennings or even Jordy Nelson to match up  with him.

4. IS THE REGULAR SEASON CHAMPION LOOKING FOR A REPEAT?

Did Don Davis really do it again?  You take a look at his draft and I cant find one mistake.  It was so solid he managed to get Peyton Manning as his BACK UP in the 8th round.

with the #2 pick overall:

Arian Foster
A.J. Green
Cam Newton
Marques Colston
Jeremy Maclin
JerMichael Finley
Willis McGahee
Peyton Manning

And I don't know if he did it on purpose, actually applying a little strategy, or he just liked A.J. Green that much, but the fact that Don Davis waited and got Cam Newton in the THIRD ROUND was absolutely brilliant. ( based on the fact that Bailey had already taken Aaron Rodgers)

3. JULIO JONES OVER CAM NEWTON?

In an absolutely surprising turn of events.  The defending champion had a chance to get Cam Newton back on his team this year in the second round but passed on him.  If you watch his one on one interview Don Megge personally gave all of the credit to Mr.  Cam Newton for his fantasy football championship.

Not only did he pass on Newton, he also passed on Roddy White.  White was Don Megge's second round pick last year.

I guess Don Megge doesnt believe in loyality when it comes to winning.

Its an interesting strategy to say the least as Don still managed to Eli Manning AND Philip Rivers with back to back to picks in the 6th and 7th rounds and arguablly has the best WR core in the league with the group of Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, and Jordy Nelson.

Will he be able to repeat this year??

2.  SHONN GREENE OVER TONY ROMO AND PEYTON MANNING

Steve Pietrangelo was heading towards having one of the all time best drafts EVER.

He was looking to duplicate the success of Don Davis from last year.

He had the #4th overall pick

LeSean McCoy
Adrian Peterson
Brandon Marshall
Steve Smith
Miles Austin
Antonio Gates
Eric Decker

And then the fatal mistake happened in the 8th round.  Steve had already gotten a little greedy and picked up his 4th WR in Eric Decker.  Thinking about rolling the dice again before picking up a starting quarterback he picked up a back up running back in Shonn Greene.

The very next two picks where Tony Romo and Peyton Manning.

Steve Pietrangelo had to settle with Ben Roethlisberger and Jay Cutler.  Still a serviceable pair of quarterbacks, but Steve is left to think of what could of been.

At around the the same time Patrick Fahey had made a comment in the chat room during the draft  "Hey guys if your in the market for a back up quarterback, Debussey has yet to pick one up."

Fahey wasnt paying attention to Steve's team at the time, he was just watching in astonishment wondering what the hell was going with Debussey.

That leads us to.....

1.  WTF WAS DEBUSSEY DOING !?!????????????

This is the same guy that gave us the Tavaris Jackson gem last year.

So you know we are really in for a treat.

This guy drafted MJD 8th overall.  The same MJD that just ended his holdout and wont even start week 1.  The other running backs he drafted were Michael Turner and Frank Gore.  You could argue that this guy wont even have a starting backfield after the first month.  Well you could just say it, I doubt no one is going to argue with you.

And remember that RUN ON TIGHT ENDS IN THE 6TH ROUND ?!? This guy put the cherry on top and capped it off with Jason Witten in the 7th round.

The same Jason Witten that has a ruptured spleen and has no clue when he will be able to return to play.

Seriously its like everyone panicked and figured a TE was critical to there fantasy success and this guy took it one step further.

So if your following along here, Debussey took a backup RB in the 6th rd, an Injured TE in the 7th rd, and THEN took his 4th WR in the 8th round.

So his starting quarterback this year is going to be RGIII.

Will RGUIII have the same success as Cam Newton last year and save Debussey's season?

Does it even matter with how PUTRID this team is?
